I Found What You’re Afraid to Look For

Why does it trigger me so much when someone says,
“I hope you find what you’re looking for”?
Am I the only one looking for something?
Why don’t we start our day saying,
“I hope you find your way,”
instead of “Good morning, sir”?
Everyone’s looking.
We’re human.
Always searching, no?
Unless this is just me.
If so—welcome to my life.
But something about this line says:
Judgment.
Pity.
Holier-than-thou.
I don’t know. I’m having a hard time placing it.
I just know it feels off.
Almost as if I’m the only one missing what I’m looking for.
Everyone else found it already.
Me?
Oh—I’ve gotta rip the heavens open.
Tear the cosmic veil.
Burn every illusion.
Cross oceans of ache.
Know no rest.
Only to be met by:
“I hope you find what you’re looking for.”
Seriously?
STFU.
See? I told you it triggers me.
Like your life is totally in order,
while the rest of us go crazy.
Or is it really that you’re terrified
to actually name what it is you’re missing?
Hold your blessings—
while I hold what you buried.
Please don’t assume you know
if I’m missing something or not.
