Untethered

I remember the day. I didn’t have a word for it.
It was a new experience. It was foreign to me.
And then it hit me.
I had become untethered.
Not to be confused with freedom.
Oh no, it’s actually the exact opposite of freedom.
Freedom is when your father pretends to let go of you while you first ride your bike.
Untethered is the moment you turn around
and realize he let go a long time ago.
Untethered from expectation.
Untethered from the watchful eyes.
Untethered from the illusion of safety.
Untethered from the idea that someone other than yourself knows better.
Untethered is when Someone, Somewhere
believes in you more than you do.
Untethered is when you try to go back,
but He smiles and says, you got this.
Untethered is the unbearable weight of weightless flight.
Untethered means deeper responsibility.
Untethered means a form of self-control
beyond anything external ever had over you.
Untethered means discipline you never knew existed while attached at the hip.
Untethered is when you unfold so far and wide
that going back is no longer possible.
Untethered means nothing can any longer have pull over you.
Untethered is the reward given to those
who have control over every whim and desire.
Untethered is unlocked
when you have control over your emotions.
Untethered is achieved
when you no longer need to chase.
Untethered is the day you are truly born.
Untethered is plugging out
and tethering to Source.
